Origin Story

Tree • bones Garden + Studio grew out of a lifelong pull toward restoration, design, + working with tangible systems that respond honestly to time + attention.

For more than 25 years, that work existed primarily in the world of product, UX, + brand design by building large-scale digital systems, interfaces, experiences for startups + global enterprise. While that work sharpens a deep understanding of structure, clarity, systems thinking, + long-term functionality, it also creates a growing need to balance screen-based work with something more physical, grounded, + immediate.

Outside of corporate + digital design, there was always a parallel practice taking shape through gardening, native landscapes, woodworking, salvaged materials, photography, restoration projects, + creative experimentation. The garden became a direct counterbalance to the abstraction of digital work. A place where effort produces visible results, where systems reveal themselves slowly, + where feedback is real. Soil improves or it doesn’t. Trees recover or they don’t. Materials either endure or fail over time.

Today, the practice brings together ecological stewardship, design discipline, + restorative creative work through living soil programs, native planting, tree health, reclaimed materials, + long-term environmental care. The focus remains simple: work with what already exists, restore balance where possible, + create spaces + objects that grow more meaningful with age rather than less.
